Production Blog: Editing Improvements!
After having my film reviewed I had things I knew I wanted to change about the editing of my production. First, I contacted my editor Connor and told him the changes I needed to be made. After trying to explain the editing that needed to be made my editor was still confused. So, I told him to bring his laptop to school so we could go over the editing in person. I also had my group mates Addison and Mya join us as Addison enjoys editing and Mya is the main director of the film. As soon as we all met up during our free period, we ran into issues. The computer was not charged so we had to find an outlet. After charging the wifi connection was still acting up, but it was working well enough to continue editing. I ended up having Addison start a hotspot and using this to connect the computer. This helped the editing progress run a lot smoother! Now, it was finally time to start editing. Next, we attempted to transfer the videos from an iPhone to the laptop. As my editor’s first attempt at editing was on his iPhone all of my filming footage was on there. Many of the videos were too large to send through text or email, so I began researching other methods of upload. File.io was the first application I found that I could share these videos onto. I uploaded all the videos and finally it was editing time. I began by telling my editor to put the videos into the correct order according to the storyboard. As there were lots of takes of each shot I made sure to include each one to make the selection process easier. After selecting the best take of each scene I moved on to trimming the clips. This took a lot of time as I had to try to match the timing to the storyboard as well as stay true to the time limit of my production! After this, I wrapped up todays day of editing!
