Film Review
Over the weekend I edited my final production! After completing it I wasn’t sure if I was satisfied with my final product. I knew there were some editing flaws and possible flaws in the story and execution. I decided to first have my friend who was previously in AICE Media watch my film. After my friend watched the video she noticed a few things. First, she pointed out that the music over the newscaster was too loud. This is something I know I can easily fix later so I made sure to make a note of it. I decided to create a shared document with my other group members. I made sure to let them know to get the production watched and reviewed by some of their peers. Next, my friend noticed that the news broadcast has no titles so it was not clear to the viewer that it was a newscast. Next, my friend pointed out that the music did not have a large impact on the film. I wrote this down and began brainstorming ideas on changing the music or editing it in some way. After the suggestions of my friend, I decided to get a second opinion. I decided to ask my theatre teacher to review my production next. As she had experience in the film industry as an actor, and on Broadway, I knew she would be able to give me good feedback. After watching my production, my teacher also pointed out her confusion with the news broadcast. She also mentioned that the music did not fit cohesively with my production. I believe editing the sound will improve the quality. Adding eerie sound effects and more natural sounds will improve my music and picture quality. Lastly, my teacher mentioned that there were some gaps in the plot. She specifically mentioned the parts leading up to Ashley meeting Noah. So, I will have to do another day of filming to fix this issue. She also mentioned that when Noah picks up his phone at the end of my production it seems very incomplete. Overall my filming review was very helpful and I cannot wait to make some changes to improve my production!
