Production Blog: Forest Filming
After being rained out during my last attempt of filming, I told my group today I would begin filming. As originally planned I wanted to attempt filming all of the outdoor scenes. I instructed my partners Mya, Addison, and Connor to meet after our last class of the day at 2:40 so I could drive us to my house. I planned on filming at the nearby park, Birch State Park. Addison and Mya came home with me after school and I drove them to my house as it was near my house. We planned on filming using Connor’s camera, but he left it at home. Connor had also not come in his correct costume so he needed to go home to get his camera and costume. He left school and arrived home. He ended up arriving at my house (the filming location), at 5:30. In the meantime, I got Addison into her costume as she was the only other actor being filmed besides Connor. Once Connor arrived I first filmed the bike scene that showed Addison, playing Ashley, sneaking out, and heading to her date with Noah. Addison originally planned on bringing a bike, but since she came directly to my house, I had to use my bike. Connor, Mya, and I got into my golf cart and rode alongside Addison to get a good tracing shot. This shot was particularly hard and took a few tries to perfect. After filming this scene I drove down to Birch State Park, my next filming location. The park closed at 6:30 so I rushed everyone. After arriving at around 6 P.M. my actor and group member Connor pointed out that I had forgotten the prop knife. I had to quickly rush back to my house and grab it. However, by the time I returned to the park, it was 6:15 and I decided not to rush the filming process. I instructed my group members to return to my house and begin planning the next day of filming. I decided to have everyone come on Thursday. My school has a half-day so I aim to finish filming all of the outdoor scenes and begin filming some indoor scenes. I learned a lot about planning and communication throughout today.
