Introducing Me!
Hi, I am Katie Weiss! I am currently sixteen years old and live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where we are known for oranges and sunshine! I live with my mother, father, and older sister right by the beach! I am currently a sophomore in high school and I am enjoying high school so far! My last year was online due to the Corona Virus, so it is nice to be experiencing in-person learning. My school offers a variety of different elective classes as well the core subject classes. Before going into high school I was uncertain about my career path, however, I took a design class my freshman year and became interested in learning about the industry of fashion. This led to further interest in other art forms such as film. My oldest sister is currently a senior at my high school and mentioned AICE Media Studies to me, so I decided to look into taking the class. After requesting to have the class last year, I discovered I had gotten it on my schedule. Throughout this year I have learned so much about the Media and film industry. At the beginning of the year, my teacher introduced all of the terms we would be using throughout the duration of this class. At first, I was very overwhelmed, but after carefully studying I was able to understand each term. I struggled a lot with distinguishing between different camera angles and shots at first but my assignments helped me further my knowledge. My first task was to make a short commercial advertising a product. My group and I chose Adidas as our product and began the process of filming. I was very overwhelmed by the thought of making a storyboard and the various blogs that were a part of the filming process. However, the storyboard provided a very easy-to-follow guide when I began filming. This first task warmed me up to the class and made me more comfortable with the process of creating a production. After completing my commercial, my next task was to create a music video. The length of the music video was more than two times the length of my commercial, so I was intimidated. However, my group members and I were able to tackle the music video and do well! I am very excited to begin work on my final task.
