Beginning editing!
Today, I began my first day of editing my music video. My first step was to organize all of the clips into the order they occurred in my music video. Since I had filmed some scenes in a different order I reorganized them correctly to make the editing process easier. After organizing scenes I look at the serpeare takes of each scene to find the best one for my video. While some scenes has very obvious good takes, others scenes did not. I found myself comparing many of the takes, so I ended up consulting my group mates for assistance. After selecting the best clips I downloaded them all onto my phone and moved them into my editing program. Next, I wanted to immediately get my music uploaded into iMovie, as some of my clips included lip syncing. I had to use an app that converted my song into an Mp4 file. I used this film to upload into my editing program. Next, I needed to trim down many beginnings and ending of my clips to only include the important parts, and to stay on track of my target time. It was very difficult to edit the length of clips leading up the the lip syncing. Many times I would edit too much and the clips of my actors singing would be way too late. However, after checking the exact time in my song where the clip needed to match up, I added all previous clip times together in order to line up the audio. After this I needed to finish editing the visual aspects of my video. One of my scenes included a screen split 3 ways to show all the actors leaving their house at the same time. Although I had some prior knowledge on editing, I was not sure how to achieve this split screen look. I decided to do my research through internet articles and videos. I found one particular video that showed a triple split screen, which was important as other videos only showed a traditional split screen. The tutorial helped me to achieve the split screen I desired, however the only way to make this feature work was to have one clip bigger than the other two, I decided to make it my music videos main character. After adjusting the framing of these clips this day of editing was done.
